Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.

An important representative stated the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
